Trea Vance Turner...Graduated from Park Vista (FL) High School and attended North Carolina State University...Following his junior season, he was named first-team All-ACC, second-team All-American by Perfect Game and a third team All-American by Baseball America ...He led NCAA Division I with 55 stolen bases as a freshman in 2012 and was a key cog in North Carolina State's journey to the 2013 College World Series.

2017

Put up strong numbers despite two stints on the disabled list (right hamstring strain: 4/10 to 4/21; right wrist fracture: 6/30 to 8/29)...Hit .297 with 11 doubles, two triples, four homers, 13 RBI, 12 walks, 11 stolen bases and 22 runs scored in 30 games following his return from his right wrist fracture...Broke Washington's single-season stolen base record with 46...Ranked third in MLB with 46 stolen bases... Broke Washington's single- season record with his 42nd SB on Sept. 19 at ATL...Stole a career-high and Nationals record four stolen bases on two occasions (6/18 at NYM; 6/27 vs. CHI)...Recorded his first career cycle and the third in Nationals history, April 25 at COL...Recorded a career-high seven RBI as well...According to the Elias Sports Bureau , Turner became the eighth player in Major League history to drive in seven or more RBI in a game while hitting for the cycle... Only one player did that at a younger age than Turner (23 years, 299 days): Joe DiMaggio, who hit for the cycle and knocked in seven runs against the Washington Senators on July 9, 1937 at 22 years, 226 days old...Clubbed four leadoff home runs despite hitting leadoff in 90 of the 98 games played...Four leadoff blasts ranked tied for third in the National League (T8th in MLB)...All six triples, 11 home runs and 17 of his doubles came off right-handed pitching...Was held hitless for the first three games of the NLDS, but came on strong in the final two games, going 3-for-9 (.333) with a double, two walks, one stolen base and one run scored.

In his first full season in Washington's system, Turner recorded one of the top rookie seasons in MLB history despite just 73 games played...Hit .342 with 14 doubles, eight triples, 13 homers, 40 RBI, 33 stolen bases and 53 runs scored for the Nationals...He played 71 of his 73 games from July 15 through the end of the season... His .342 batting average was the highest by any rookie with at least 290 at-bats since Ichiro Suzuki hit .350 for Seattle in his first MLB season (2001)...Turner collected 105 hits and stole 33 bases in just 73 games, becoming the first rookie in franchise history (Nationals/ Expos) to post more than 100 hits in fewer than 100 games...According to Baseball Reference, he was the only rookie in MLB history (since 1900) to record at least 13 homers, 33 stolen bases and an average of .340 or better in no more than 73 games...His 1.44 hits per game was the fifth-highest mark by a rookie with at least 70 games since 1900... After the All-Star break, Turner led MLB in triples (8), and ranked in the National League in stolen bases (2nd, 33), hits (2nd, 102), total bases (3rd, 170), runs scored (T5th, 53), and average (5th, .340)...According to Elias, only three rookies in MLB history have hit as high as .340 with as many as 13 home runs after the break: Hal Trosky (CLE, 1934: .349, 19 HR), Ted Williams (BOS, 1939: .345, 19 HR) and Willie McCovey (SFG, 1959: .354, 13 HR)...Was the first rookie in WSH/MON history w/20+ stolen bases since Mike Lansing (1993)... His 33 stolen bases were the most by a rookie in Nationals history (2005-present) and the fourth-most by any rookie in franchise history (Nationals/ Expos), behind only: Tim Raines (71, 1981), Larry Lintz (50, 1974) and Delino DeShields (42,1990)...His 33 stolen bases were the third-most in club history, regardless of service time, behind only Alfonso Soriano (41, 2006) and Nyjer Morgan (34, 2010)...On July 20 vs. LAD, became third Nationals player to steal home...Clubbed his first walk-off home run in his first multi-home run game, Sept. 9 vs. PHI (Herrmann)...Matched a franchise record (WSH/MON) with hits in eight straight plate appearances, Aug. 23-24...Clubbed two lead-off home runs (8/28 vs. COL off C. Bettis and 9/17 at ATL off J. Collmenter)...Earned back-to-back NL Rookie of the Month awards in Aug. (.357, 6 2B, 3 3B, 5 HR, 15 RBI, 11 SB, 27 R) and Sept./Oct. (.339, 5 2B, 2 3B, 8 HR, 18 RBI, 15 SB)... Began the season with Double-A San Antonio in San Diego's system before joining Washington's Double-A Harrisburg on June 16...Was promoted to Triple-A Syracuse 10 days later...Had his contract selected from Triple-A Syracuse, Aug. 21...Made his debut that night vs. Milwaukee, entering the game as a defensive replacement at shortstop...Collected his first MLB hit, an infield single, Sept. 4 vs. Atlanta...Clubbed his first MLB home run, a solo shot, Sept. 9 at ATL (Wisler)...Hit .322 with 24 doubles, seven triples, eight homers, 54 RBI, 29 stolen bases, 28 walks and 68 runs scored in 116 MiLB games between San Antonio, Harrisburg and Syracuse...His .322 average ranked third and his .471 slugging percentage ranked tied for sixth in the Texas League at the time of the trade...Was named the No. 9 prospect in all of baseball according to Baseball America's mid-season top-50 list and was the No. 4 prospect in the International League following the season.

Reported to short-season Single-A Eugene following the 2014 First-Year Player Draft...Was eventually promoted to Single-A Fort Wayne...Combined to play in 50 total games, all at shortstop, posting a .984 fielding percentage...Was named San Diego's Minor League Defensive Player of the Year...
