Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon's left big toe still felt sore when he arrived to Nationals Park on Saturday morning, a night after he fouled a ball off his foot that caused him to leave the game early. He was not in the Nationals starting lineup for Saturday afternoon's game against the Rockies.
With eight days to go until the regular season begins, Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy has increased the intensity of his baseball activity. But before Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Astros, Murphy said what has been apparent for a while now, that it is "reasonable to expect" he will not be in the lineup for the Nationals' season opener next Thursday against the Reds in Cincinnati.
